FAQ’s
What’s the difference between a Regular Ambulance and a Non-Emergency Ambulance?
An emergency ambulance commonly known as a 911 ambulance or rescue, is equipped to provide advanced life support to critically ill patients who require urgent medical assistance. On the other hand, a non-emergency ambulance is designed to transport individuals who are in stable health conditions but cannot travel in regular vehicles for various reasons.
Who should utilize a Non-Emergency Ambulance Service?
Non-emergency ambulance services are designed for patients who are recovering from an illness or injury, or who cannot use regular transportation due to medical or ambulatory reasons. These services are particularly helpful for senior citizens who need regular medical check-ups, individuals who have been discharged from hospitals after treatment, or those who need to travel longer distances for medical appointments or other important purposes. Patients requiring regular assisted transportation for cancer treatments, dialysis, and other on going medical treatments
Is there a reason why an ambulance comes to my house with a fire truck?
The fire department accompanies the ambulance to assist in safely moving the patient from their residence and providing additional support during transport. Many firefighters are trained as medical first responders, allowing them to assist paramedics with administering medications and performing advanced medical procedures when necessary. This collaborative effort ensures the best possible care for the patient during the transportation process.
Why does the ambulance remain outside my house after it gets a patient?
An ambulance serves as a portable emergency room equipped with all necessary medical equipment and can perform similar procedures to those in a hospital's emergency room. Sometimes, patients require immediate medication or specialized procedures before reaching the hospital. This quick response is crucial for promptly addressing medical conditions and ensuring positive patient outcomes.
How is my bill determined?
The cost of the bill is calculated based on several factors. Local municipalities provide subsidies to cover some operating costs, which helps lower the overall cost for residents of those areas. However, all clients are charged a base rate, regardless of their place of residence. In addition to the base rate, you could be charged for any supplemental services, such as oxygen usage and mileage, which are standard in the industry.
