A Safe, Affordable Alternative to an Air Ambulance

Often a patient cannot travel on a commercial airliner but does not need the critical care and speed — or the cost — of an air ambulance. Ground transport is far more affordable and much gentler on the patient: no airports, no transfers, straight from one bedside to another. Trips run from a single hour to 48 hours or more, with a personal medical care attendant caring for the patient the entire way.

How It Works — Five Simple Steps

Step 1

Call or Text & Free Quote. Reach a Care Manager any time, day or night, at 1-800-650-5035. Tell us the pickup and destination, the patient’s condition, and your timing, and we’ll give you a clear, all-in quote — no hidden fees.

Step 2

Planning & Coordination. Your Care Manager reviews medications, oxygen and mobility needs, coordinates with the discharging hospital or facility and the receiving location, and schedules the right vehicle and crew.

Step 3

Bedside Pickup. On transport day our crew arrives fully prepared and takes over bedside-to-bedside — from a hospital, assisted living community, hospice, or private residence.

Step 4

The Journey. A dedicated medical care attendant monitors and cares for the patient the whole way, while drivers work in shifts so we keep moving safely, stopping only for fuel and washroom breaks. Family can follow by GPS and receives regular updates.

Step 5

Safe Arrival. We complete a calm bedside handoff at the destination — home, hospital, or care centre — on either side of the border.

Bringing Canadians Home — Our Specialty

This is what truly sets CTG Medical apart. Because we operate in both countries, our cross-border trips — including the border crossing itself — are coordinated end to end by our own teams, never handed off to a stranger halfway. Our seasoned long-distance crews run regular transports from Florida to Ontario every week. Whether a patient is returning home to Ontario, Quebec, or anywhere in Canada after a winter down south, being discharged from a Florida hospital, or transferring between facilities across the border, we manage every mile. Our Canadian snowbird repatriation service is among the very best available.

Optional: Our Rapid Response Pre-Travel Assessment Team

When a patient is in Florida and their family is in Canada, being apart can be one of the most difficult parts of the journey. Age, health concerns, or border restrictions may prevent loved ones from traveling, leaving no one available to be there in person. Our optional Rapid Response Pre-Travel Assessment Team bridges that gap by providing an experienced representative who can be at the Florida hospital or care facility within 24 hours. Acting as your eyes and ears, we meet with the care team, provide timely updates, help coordinate a smooth discharge, and take care of important details before travel. From organizing personal belongings to arranging diet-appropriate meals for the trip home, we help ensure everything is ready—giving families peace of mind when they can’t be there themselves.

• On the ground at the Florida hospital or care facility within 24 hours
• Your dedicated, in-person liaison with hospital and healthcare staff
• Clear, timely communication and updates for family members in Canada
• Advocacy for a smooth, well-coordinated discharge and travel preparation
• Packing and organizing your loved one’s personal belongings
• Arranging diet-appropriate meals for the journey home

Ask your Care Manager about adding the Rapid Response Pre-Travel Assessment Team.

Who Travels With the Patient

Every trip includes a personal medical care attendant for the entire journey — our nursing, paramedic, and EMT staff are ready to keep the patient comfortable, and we match the right level of caregiver to the patient’s needs. Higher-level advanced care is available on request. Our drivers work in shifts so the crew is always well-rested and the vehicle keeps moving. One seated family member is welcome to travel along, though it isn’t required.

Onboard Comfort

• TV with movies, plus onboard Wi-Fi and music
• Small fridge for meals, drinks, and medication
• Extra-thick stretcher mattress for a comfortable ride
• Fully climate-controlled environment
• GPS tracking so family can follow the journey

Medical Care On Board

• A dedicated medical care attendant — nursing, paramedic, or EMT — matched to the patient’s needs
• Continuous on-board oxygen for patients who need it
• Vital-sign monitoring throughout the journey
• Higher-level advanced care available on request

What's Included

• A dedicated Care Manager from your first call to safe arrival
• Bedside-to-bedside transport — hospital, assisted living, hospice, or private residence
• Direct communication with the discharging hospital, facility, or care centre and the receiving location
• GPS tracking and regular updates for family
• Assistance with washroom breaks en route

What Affects Your Cost

Every trip is quoted individually. The main factors are the distance travelled, the level of medical care required, any special equipment (such as oxygen), the timing or urgency of the trip, and whether it’s one-way or round-trip. We provide a clear, all-inclusive quote up front, with no hidden fees. We don’t require a minimum distance. If your trip is within one of our service areas, we’re glad to take a look — just call or text for a quote. Because most of a cross-border journey takes place within the United States, trips to or from the U.S. are quoted in US dollars. We accept cash, major credit cards, bank wire, and Zelle.
